XVI Latin American Conference of Therapeutic Communities

Hugo Viz, Gestalt Psychotherapist and member of the therapeutic team of the Takiwasi Center presented the lecture: "Contributions of Takiwasi in 25 Years of Research and Treatment of Addictions Integrating Amazonian Medicine and Psychotherapy" during the XVI Latin American Conference of Therapeutic Communities that took place from 7 to 9 December 2017 in Campinas, Brazil.

The objective of the lecture was to present the therapeutic protocol of Takiwasi in all its aspects, focusing mainly on its innovative and intercultural components that have allowed Takiwasi to become an international reference in the approach to addictions and mental health, being object of study of more than 50 international research projects.

Takiwasi, throughout its 25 years of existence has been able to articulate the encounter between several axes of therapeutic innovation that include:

The topic chosen for the XVI Latin American Conference of Therapeutic Communities is: "Therapeutic Communities: preserving the essence of open doors to innovation". This issue has been addressed in two major dimensions: Technical and Theoretical Aspects; Challenges for the Biennium. The event aimed to open a space at national, national and international level to deepen discussions, as well as analyze the technological, social and political scenarios of the Therapeutic Communities, the Prevention of Drug Use and the Network of Attention to consumers of Alcohol and other drugs.
