VETERANS & FIRST RESPONDERS

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The "dieta" is an very profound work involving the inner self and providing very good results only when participants accept and commit to some simple rules. Failure to respect these rules can nullify the effect of the plants but may also result in energy crossings ("cruzadera") with serious physical, mental and spiritual consequences. It is a process that requires each participant to engage very responsibly.

The first element to be carried out in preparation for a "dieta" is a plant purging session. This will take place prior to the retreat in the jungle.

The "dieta" in the jungle is opened with an ayahuasca ceremony. There is another ayahuasca session after the "dieta" in order to bring closure to the overall healing process.

The overall retreat for Veterans and First Responders is followed by a "post-dieta" period that is as important as the "dieta" itself. It involves various dietary rules and restrictions over a total period of one month (more details below). This time is necessary for the assimilation and integration of the plants' energies which were incorporated during the "dieta". Undertaking the retreat for Veterans and First Responders involves committing to these mandatory rules. As indicated above, failing to follow such rules may lead to energetic complications with physical, mental or spiritual consequences.

Important information for women

The energy charge of menstruations is not compatible with the energies mobilized during an ayahuasca session, so if you are menstruating, you will not be able to participate in the ayahuasca session. Please take this into consideration when choosing the date in order to fully benefit from the experience of the retreat in Takiwasi. No exceptions can be made. However, the menstrual period does not affect the participation in the purgative plant intake and in the actual "dieta" taking place in the jungle.

What you can / cannot bring with you

Since the slightest smell can seriously affect the energy work, it is forbidden, during the "dieta" in our botanical reserve, to use any kind of beauty or cleaning products (soap, perfume, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, repellent, essential oils, etc.). This includes all odorant products like oils, nail polish, candles, incense, etc. You will have at your disposal water and a special soap made by the Takiwasi laboratory. Other items that you cannot bring with you are music equipment, radio, cellphone, tablet, watch, money or personal documents.

You should bring with you cotton clothes, towel, coat, flashlight and spare batteries, 2 or 3 books and a notebook to write or draw. Extra food in addition to the one proposed by the Center is not allowed. Please bring white or light-colored clothes for the ayahuasca ceremony.

We will provide you with: two sheets, a blanket, pillowcase, mineral water, perfume-free soap, toilet paper, mosquito net for the bed, and a hammock.

Rules to observe during the "dieta"

  • Avoid sudden temperature changes (exposure to sun or rain).
  • Any contact with other participants in the diet is forbidden, you will only have contact with Takiwasi’s assistance personnel who will visit you.
  • Stay in your hut ("tambo") or nearby. Avoid going for a walk in the jungle as you can get lost very easily.
  • Do not touch any wild animals or try to scare them.
  • Baths in the river should be briefs (plunging in the water 3 or 4 times). Another option is to shower with a pitcher of water. Always avoid getting cold.
  • Maintain a calm and peaceful rhythm, avoid intense activities (such as long meditation, physical exercises, compulsive prayer)

"Post-Dieta" Process

  • During the first two weeks after the closing of the "dieta" (which marks the end of the "dieta"), you must avoid any sweet or sugary foods or drinks, including natural products (fruits, honey, etc.). This does not include carbohydrates or slow sugars (unsweetened bread, flour, noodles, cassava, etc.). You will be given a document stating the products that are prohibited, those tolerated but not recommended, and those recommended.
  • Avoid any frozen food and beverage.

  • These are the indications to follow for a minimum period of time. You may however extend this period of time according to your convenience. This will allow the plants to continue working inside your body.
  • It is recommended to avoid performing any therapeutic intervention (except in case of emergency) during the "post-dieta" process. This includes but is not limited to massages, dental work or energy-related interventions (such as but not limited to reiki, alignment of chacras...etc)
  • It is recommended to avoid the intake of any psychoactive plant during the 3 months that follow the retreat, this includes ayahuasca.
  • Our main resources are dedicated to the rehabilitation of patients with addiction issues who are residing at the Takiwasi center. Once the retreat is completed, further information or request for services may be placed by email at: healingheroes@takiwasi.com
