A study of musical experiences of traditional Amazonian medicine. On May 3rd, Maya Sherwin will be presenting a poster and also giving a short presentation based on its field research at Takiwasi, at the one-day conference of the Music Therapy Charity, that is celebrating 50 years of music therapy research at the University of Roehampton, London.

Biodiversity conservation in a wild therapeutic garden
An article on the botanical reserve of the Takiwasi Center has been published in the Horticulture International Journal, Vol. 3, Issue 2, March 2019. Over its more than 25 years of existence, Takiwasi has developed a series of parallel activities focused on the conservation of the environment and the recovery and promotion of Amazonian medicinal flora and of the indigenous knowledge related to it.

The role of perfume in therapy
Antoine Renard is a French visual artist based in Berlin that over the last years has been focusing on intoxication and abnormal behaviors among teenagers and young adults. He is currently in Takiwasi collecting material for a research project on the use of perfume, scent and the role of olfaction in Amazonian traditional medicine, which includes “perfumeros”, healers who specialize in aromatherapy.
